Joe "Kenny" Kendall Powell, Jr.

Joe “Kenny” Kendall Powell, Jr., 47, passed away on April 28, 2023 in a local hospital.

Kenny was born on May 13, 1975 in Lake Charles, LA to Joe Kendall Powell, Sr. and Charlotte Lasyone Powell. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father. He held several offices in the Free and Accepted Masons and the Habibi Shriners. The spirit of Kenny lives on through the Brotherhood and his fellow Nobles.

He was a beloved little league football coach for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and being out on the water. He was an inspiration to all that knew him and will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 25 years, Bridget Powell; children, Gavin Powell and Mary Bergen (Joel); honorary grandchildren, Emery, Hadley, and Jax; mother, Charlotte Powell; sister, April Schadler; and mother and father-in-law, Vicki and J.R. Mire.

His funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 5 pm. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 pm until the start of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in his name be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Shreveport, LA.
