Joetta Elizabeth Cronan Guillory, 83, of Lake Charles, LA died at 8:34 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in a local hospital, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Guillory was born September 18, 1930 in Port Allen, LA and has lived in Lake Charles since 1951. She worked as an LPN for Resthaven Nursing Home for a number of years. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters, a CCD teacher, Eucharistic Minister, Ladies Altar Society, and enjoyed singing with the funeral choir. Mrs. Guillory was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post # 2130. She enjoyed quilting, painting, sewing, cooking, gardening, canning and crabbing. She will always be remembered for her practical jokes, her sense of humor, and her words of wisdom, "The best is yet to be." Mrs. Guillory is survived by her son, Gregory Philip Guillory of Lake Charles; daughters, Mary Virginia Gibson and husband Russell of Carencro, LA, Cynthia Anne Hymel and husband Tommy of Lake Charles, and Carole Elizabeth Glasgow of Richmond, TX; daughter-in-law, Roberta Guillory of Sulphur, LA; ten grandchildren, Patrick Guillory, Nili Stewart, Joanna Menard, Jessica Kendrick, Ryan Gibson, Sara Casperson, Adam Hymel, Katherine Hymel, Joshua Glasgow, and Jake Glasgow; and twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Guillory; son, Steven Patrick Guillory; grandson, Aaron Gibson; four sisters; and five brothers. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 10:40 AM. The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to all of those who had a special part in the care and life of Mrs. Guillory throughout the years.
