Johann "John" Dieter Wagner

Johann “John” Dieter Wagner, 61, of Topsy, LA passed away at 4:34 PM on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

John was born July 22, 1961 in Simmern, Germany.  He received his citizenship in 1962 in Illinois and lived in various locations following his father’s Air Force career.  He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School and received a degree in Machinery from Sumter Area Technical School.  He worked in the construction industry and moved to Topsy in 2000 to be closer to family.  Growing up he was a boy scout (he made it to Eagle Scout), he played basketball, and football.  John’s passion was playing the guitar, he played with the band “Southern Comfort”. He had the bluest eyes.  He wore his hair long with a colorful bandana.  He played and listened to Rock and Roll music.  He went to numerous concerts, made a good effort at fishing, (his fishing buddy was Eli) and entertained his sister and brother-in-law (J.J.) by playing games.  His sister was the only one who called him “Johnny”.  He is free as a bird now…

John is survived by his sister, Theresa Jiminez (Jerry); brother, Gregory Carter, all of Topsy; nieces and nephews, Aubrey, Ashly, Austin, Brandi, Michael, and Kamryn; and great-nieces and nephews, Eli, Liam, Bryce, and Kody.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Donald Wagner; mother and step-father, Maria and William Franklin Carter; and a great-nephew, Jaxon.

His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.  The family will host a private celebration of life at a later date.
