John A. Burr Corkran

John Anthony Corkran, 71, of Lake Charles went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 25, 2012 while at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born July 21, 1941 to Elbert and Luna (Fontenot) Corkran in Lake Charles, LA. Burr as called by his family and friends was a longtime member at Glad Tidings Church in Lake Charles. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Entergy as a Control Operator.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon Schexnider Corkran; son, Shawn Burr Corkran and wife Angie; daughter, Sasha Kelley and husband Keith; two granddaughters, Maddie Corkran and Mackenzie Alexander; three grandsons, Christian and Evan Corkran and Carson Kelley; two brothers, Kenneth Corkran and wife Karyn, and Donald Corkran and wife Karla; and one sister, Delores Hoffpauir. Burr is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Audrey Hoffpauir.

His Funeral will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Glad Tidings Church. Reverend Ray Hundley will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the funeral home and continue Saturday from 12:00 PM (Noon) until time of services at the church.
