John C. "Pete" Duhon, 77, of Lake Charles, died at 12:30 PM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at a local hospital. Pete was born in Creole, LA July 12, 1936 to Desire "Gosh" and Victoria Richard Duhon. He enjoy spending his time being outdoors and traveling. He loved being around family and friends. He cherished his time spending with his grandchildren in sporting events. He was a member of the American Legion, Woodmen of the World, Cameron Lions Club, Cameron Parish Chambers of Commerce where he was selected "Citizen of the year" in 1991 and Christ the King Catholic Church . He was also a Weight Master for Lemesche Bass Club. Pete retired from Cameron Telephone Company after 35 years of service. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Lou Babineaux Duhon; children, Joanette Savoie, Lena Cormier and husband Neal from Lake Charles, Thomas Duhon and wife Veronica of Leblanc, and Junie Bell and husband Phillip of Kinder; grandchildren, Beau Duhon and wife Jessica of Lake Charles, Haley Duhon and Jennifer Duhon of Leblanc, Randy Bell, Mary Bell and Fiancé Josh Courville of Kinder, Jed Cormier, Morgan Daley and husband Kendell of Lake Charles; great grandchildren, Alyssa Duhon, Bentley Daley, and Cheyenne Courville; one brother, Paul Hersey "Bod" Duhon. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ruster and Van Duhon; one sister, Glenda Duhon Conner; one grandson, Jason Clint Cormier. Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Thursday at 8:00AM until time of service. Burial will be at Sweet Lake - Grand Lake Community Cemetery. Father Alan Trouille will be officiating services.
