John Curtis Perrodin, II, 79, went to his creator on Monday, May 16, 2016 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
John was born in Ville Platte, LA on December 31, 1936 to John Curtis Perrodin, Sr. and Eunice Lafleur Perrodin. Our father attended Ville Platte High School, where he excelled in both football and track. His accomplishments in football set numerous school records, but receiving a scholarship to McNeese State in track brought him to Lake Charles, LA. His accomplishments on the track at McNeese entitled him to be a member of the Gulf States Conference Track Championship Team of 1958. After college, he went on to be the head Safety Engineer at Firestone Rubber Plant putting in 44 years before retiring. Our father had many passions in those years with one of his most cherished being on the football field as a referee with his colleagues. He and his pals called countless games including numerous high school state championships before moving forward to referee at the college level. Another passion of our father’s was to be in the gym with Enos Derbonne and friends flexing for any females that glanced their way. Ward 3 Recreation Complex honored our father by naming their weight room after him. He was dedicated to his family and catered to his grandchildren throughout their childhood. He was a man you could count on no matter the circumstance to be at your side when you called upon him. He will be dearly missed and cherished by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, John Curtis Perrodin, III “Noke”; his parents; brother, Bobby Perrodin of Ville Platte, LA; and his second wife, Diane Porter.
Our father will be mourned by his son, Todd Perrodin of Fort Lauderdale and his children, Christopher and Lauren; David Perrodin and wife Mindy of Lake Charles, and their children, Brittany and LeAnn; and his daughter, Kim Perrodin of Los Angeles, CA; grandson, Josh Courtney of his late wife, Diane Porter Perrodin; sister June Domengeaux and her children, Liz, Karen, Cheryl, Chris and Adam “Bubba”; brother, Phillip Perrodin; along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Elaine Fontenot; his sister-in-law, Diana Perrodin and her children, Melissa Rech and husband Scott and Curt Perrodin and wife Jessica.
