John Darrow Leach

John Darrow Leach, 83, of Lake Charles passed away at 12:28 AM on Thursday, July 23, 2015 in a local hospital. Mr. Leach was born on July 28, 1931 in Georgetown, MS and lived in Lake Charles most of his life. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School in Mississippi. Following graduation he served in the US Air Force. Mr. Leach worked as a salesman for United Service before being employed at Harlow's Lawn Mower Service for 20 years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He also shared his singing talent in the Barber Shop Quartet. He was a gift to others in many ways and will be missed dearly. Mr. Leach was a giving man and showed it by mowing lawns for others. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Joel H. Leach (Ruth) and Francis Leach (Julie) all of Dallas; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Pearl Rae Hilton Leach; and two sisters, Ethel Larossa and Jessie Gillespie. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Darrell Spencer will officiate. Visitation will begin on Saturday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the start of the service. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Hineston, LA officiated by Rev. Benji Rhames. Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Leach's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org
