John Dempsey Khoury, 84, passed away May 23, 2011 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 26, 2011 at10 a.m. in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Father Gerry Boulanger officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 4-9p.m. with a rosary at 7p.m. and will resume on Thursday at 8 a.m. until time of service. Dempsey was a lifelong resident of Sulphur, he graduated from Sulphur High School. After graduating he served his country in the US Army. He then worked for 44 years as a Lab Analyst for Citgo. He was a member of the American Legion and attended Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing in pool tournaments and was an avid golfer and fisherman. Dempsey is survived by his four daughters, Frances Freedlund of Sulphur, Mary Katherine Kaki Campbell and husband, Jeff of Livonia, LA., Angie Khoury Blanchette and Jennifer Vincent both of Sulphur, son, John Edward Khoury II and wife, Kelly of Sulphur, seven grandchildren, Mark Freedlund, Kristen Campbell, Kaitlyn Campbell, Anna Katherine Campbell, Madison Vincent, Sean Khoury and Chelsi Khoury and a special friend, Neil Bailey of Sulphur. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Khoury, his parents, Samuel and Sophia Khoury, sister, Frances Khoury, three brothers, Isaac Khoury, Michael Khoury and Thomas Khoury.
