John Earle Ney, 85, of Lake Charles died Friday, May 18, 2018 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Ney was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He served the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked thirty-five years as an operator for Himont Chemical Refinery. Mr. Ney was always an avid outdoorsman; hunting, fishing, camping, traveling by motor home, and learning the nature of the land around him. Following his retirement, thirty years ago, he spent an immeasurable amount of time at his camp in Toledo Bend. He enjoyed sharing his passion for the outdoors with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends, as well as occasional lessons of the leaves, trees and birds that surrounded them that day. He was also an avid sports fan, often with a remote in his hand as he watched as many games as he could during any given time. He was a “kid magnet”. He loved the time he spent playing with them and the opportunity to teach them.
Mr. Ney will be most remembered for his humble and kind, loving heart. He leaves to honor his memory, five children, John Robert Ney (Rhonda) of Moss Bluff, Richard Keith Delon (Lynne) and Pamela Delon Shields (David) of Westlake, Carolyn Paris (Tom) of Spangle, WA and Sandy Ford (Cliff) of Lindale, TX; nineteen grandchildren, Christian and Cameron Ney, Siera Hobbs Parks, Cherie and Danielle Delon, Matthew and Amanda Shields, Gerald Kershaw, Kristee Montou, Tami Cornay, Michelle Delon Goodman, Tara Delon Polston, Rachelle and Myka Delon, Jeremy Howard, Ricky Westbrook, Kevin Kuhen, Kellie Rachell and Cliff Ford; numerous great-grandchildren and one sister, Margery Ney Nelson of Deridder.
He also leaves his retiree and high school friends that he met with on a regular basis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Lee John Ney and Ora’s two sons, Mike Delon and Lynn Delon; parents, Raymond Charles and Mary Smith Ney; three brothers, Harold, Robert and James Ney and two sisters, Eva Ney Martin and Dorothy Ney Manena.
