John E. Savant, Sr., 69, of Moss Bluff died at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 24, 2012 at his residence with his loving family at his side.
Mr. Savant was born in Lake Charles to the parents of Adam and Nellie Savant. He was a life-long resident of the Lake Charles area. He attended Landry Memorial High School. Mr. Savant worked at Olin for many years as a pipefitter. He was a member of Local #106 Steamfitters and Pipefitters. Mr. Savant was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved to cook for them. He called his 5 dogs his "babies" and they gave him great joy.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Chapman Savant of Moss Bluff, LA, three daughters; Marie Patricia Savant Gross and husband John of Lake Charles, LA, Kathleen Ann Rice and husband Dan of Pineville, LA, Karen Lynn Savant Chamberlain and husband Ken of Lake Charles, LA, one son, John Edward Savant, Jr., and wife Elizabeth Spikes of Montgomery, LA, two step children Anna and Gary Vezina both of Benton, LA, one brother Patrick Adam Savant of Lake Charles, LA, 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mr. Savant is preceded in death by his parents and one great grandchild Gina Grubbs.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Visitation will begin on Wednesday at 9:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 8:50 Wednesday morning.
