John Edward Todd, Sr. will best be remembered as the jovial, boisterous, gentleman who could light up a room, especially a party!
John Sr. was born in Aurora, Colorado on October 8, 1960 to Zeta Lorraine and Charles Olin Todd II. He attended Gateway High School, graduating Class of 1978. Shortly after high school, he enrolled into the United States Navy specializing in Avionics, which brough him to Florida for Tech School. It was here he met Frances, and on March 14, 1981, exchanged wedding vows. After eight years of dutiful service he received an honorable discharge, then accepted a job with Lockheed Martin, relocating to South Carolina. His last move was to the Lake Charles area, he began working for Northrup Grumman as an Avionics Instructor, working until his recent retirement.
As a husband and father, he worked hard to provide for them, when he was not working, he spent quality time with his family. He taught each of his children how to hunt and fish on their many trips to the camp in Converse. He considered himself a self-taught outdoorsman. He never met a stranger, not turned away from a good conversation with anyone who engage. He found a wealth in knowledge, something he instilled into his children. He taught them to inquire, be inspired, and enjoy things as they came. On days where mother nature impeded on his hunting or fishing, you’d find him reading the Harry Potter books, enjoying the movies or working on model trains.
