John Fuller Vaughn

John Fuller Vaughn, 85, got called home to be with the Lord on Sunday August 14, 2016.

John was born on January 20, 1931 in Warrensburg, Illinois to the late Leonard and Lorena Vaughn. He was a real estate broker and President of John Vaughn Real Estate, Inc. John held a Bachelor of Science Degree from McNeese State University, was a graduate of the Louisiana Real Estate Institute and served in the United States Air Force.

He served 4 terms as a Police Juror, was Past President of the Policy Jury Association, Past President of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, charter member of the Louisiana Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations, Past President of the Calcasieu Board of Realtors, former member of the Board of Directors of the West Calcasieu Association of Commerce and the Sulphur YMCA.

Additionally, John was a member of the Sulphur American Legion Post 179, the Ad and Press Club, past president of the Lake Charles Association for Retarded Citizens and held a seat on the Board of Directors of the State Association for the Retarded. He was a member of the Board of the United Way, Past President of the Southwest Louisiana Umpires Association and served as an official for high school and college football, basketball and baseball for over 25 years.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memories are his 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Loretta Vaughn of Baton Rouge, Vince and Renay Vaughn of Westlake; 2 daughters, Valerie and Vickie Vaughn of Lake Charles; brother, William Vaughn of Warrensburg, IL; 6 grandchildren, Dillion, Gabe, Elias, Kevin, Cory and Lindsey; 10 great grandchildren, Jagger, Corbin, Jude, Jaden, Rebecca, Michael, Eli, Ella, Avery and Kate.

Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Thursday August 18, 2016 from the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie Burke officiating.

Visitation with the family will be from 4 – 8 PM Wednesday.
