John Henry Coontz, Jr.

John Henry Coontz, Jr. 88 of Sulphur passed away on August 11, 2014. His greatest life accomplishments were the love of his Lord, being a wonderful husband, a great dad and grandfather. After retirement in 1982 from Conoco, John enjoyed working with the Masonic Lodge candidates, spending quiet time at Toledo Bend and traveling throughout the country RV ing. John is survived by his two sons, David and Bobby Coontz of Sulphur; his daughter, Sally "Missy" Coontz of Collinsville, OK; his brother, Robert "Bobby" Coontz; 4 grandchildren, Blane Coontz and wife Amy, Alecia Henry, Michelle Olsen and Jonathan Bush; 7 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Donna Coontz Bush; his wife of 60 years Sally R. Coontz; and his second wife, Janey Baggett Coontz of Baton Rouge. The family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to Ms. Carolyn and staff of the Guardian House. A Masonic funeral service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10 am at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Reverend Lonnie Gothrup officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 5-9 pm at the funeral home and will resume on Friday at 9 a.m. until time of the service.
