John Joseph Mecklenburg, Jr.

John Mecklenburg, 73, passed away May, 8, 2011 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Shirley officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 9 a.m. until time of service. John was a native of New York and a longtime Sulphur resident. He joined the Navy after finishing high school where he worked as an Aviation Maintenance Supervisor and retired after 20 years as a Master Chief. He then was a Subsea Engineer for the oil fields. John later worked as a contract administrator for the US Government. After retiring he did volunteer work for Cal-Cam Hospital. John is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia White and husband, Scott of Sulphur and Judith Rodriquez of Reseda, CA., one brother, Raymond Wadsworth and wife, Jo Ellen of Nesconset Long Island, NY., one half-brother, Dale Dayton and wife, Sheryl of Katy, TX., and 14 grandchildren and his special pet Chihuahua, Chi Chi . He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Mecklenburg, one son, John Joseph Mecklenburg, III. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Nursing Staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
