John Miller

John Louis Miller, 59, died on November 21, 2013 in his home in Gillis. Mr. Miller was born in Lake Charles, LA on August 19, 1954, and resided in Gillis. He graduated from Lake Charles High in 1972, and went on to McNeese State University and later graduated from Sowela Technical Institute. John held several positions in the agricultural field. He later became an operator for 13 years at Praxair. He loved to fish and spend time at his camp, where he someday hoped to retire. He loved his wife of 37 years, his son, and his grand children. John valued his family above all else. Johnny is survived by his wife, Mary Miller of Gillis; his son Kirby Miller and daughter-in-law Mandy; along with his two grandchildren Kolton James Miller and Kurry Joseph Miller, all of Gillis. John is also survived by his sister, Patty Allen and husband Bill of Ozark, MO. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Betty Miller. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2013, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Rev. Jerry Chaddick will officiate. Interment will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.
