John O'Neil Hebert, Iv

John O’Neil Hebert, IV, 41 of Lake Charles passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in New Orleans following complications of his liver transplant.

John, affectionately known to his “Grams” as John IV, lived most of his life in Lake Charles.  He was a graduate of St. Louis Catholic High School and McNeese State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management and was a member of the MSU Agriculture Alumni.  He worked a few years in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and worked nearly five years for Element Lafayette until his health declined.  John was an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting and fishing with deer hunting and bass fishing being by far his favorite.  He made countless hunts with family and friends and stood at the front of the boat for countless fishing trips with his dad from Toledo Bend, neighboring states, New Mexico to Nova Scotia, Canada.  He was a member of the CCOA Fishing Club and the Rocky Mountain Elk Association.  He was well known as “Mr. Hibiscus” for his gift of a green thumb and a passion for growing and hybridizing beautiful hibiscus plants of many colors.  John’s life>

He leaves to honor his memory, his parents, John O’Neil Hebert, III and Marilyn Parker Hebert of Lake Charles; one sister, Brandi Hebert Dobson and fiancé, Daniel Petross of Westlake; a niece and nephew, Emma and Brady Dobson, of Westlake; maternal grandfather, Leo Parker, Sr. of Lake Charles and aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. He also leaves his beloved fur baby, Harley who followed his every step.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John O’Neil Hebert, Jr. and Bernadine Castille Hebert; maternal grandmother, Alva “Speedy” Brumfield Parker and  uncle, Castille Anthony Hebert. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, September 24, 2021, at University Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Interment services will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation Thursday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
