John Patterson Young

John Patterson Young, 72, of Sulphur passed away on October 9, 2019 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 24, 1946 in DeQuincy, LA and went to Westlake High School. John worked from 1980-2007 as a heavy equipment and pipeline mechanic. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gillis where he served as an usher. John enjoyed fishing, traveling all over the world and spending time with all his grand and great grandchildren.

 John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Aquilla B. Young of Sulphur; three daughters, Jodi Pettifield (Johnny) of Ragley, Stacy Moore (Al) and Denise Moore (Charlie) all of Sulphur; 9 grandchildren, Alan Poissot, Jr. (Kandis), Chris Poissot (Cheyan), Charles Young (Kelly), Courtney Thibodeaux (Josh), Jessica Yanzo, Mary Guillory (Blaine), Meagan McCreery, Ashley Moore, and Morgan McCreery (Adam); 9 great grandchildren, Channing, Landyn, Abigail, Kallie, Harvey Belle, Hayden Ann, Terry, Charlie Lea and Jude; sister, Yleta Hammett (Jimmy Don) of Sulphur. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jr. and Vera Young; 2 brothers, Pete Young and Richard “Dick” Young; and sister, Juanita Talley.

 A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 3 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Gillis with Pastor Glenn George officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 13, at the church beginning at 1 P.M. until time of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.
