John Paul Micelle, 88, of Lake Charles, LA died at 9:20 PM on Monday, November 18, 2013 in an Oberlin, LA care facility. Mr. Micelle was born June 24, 1925 in Lake Charles, LA and was a graduate of Landry High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving numerous awards and recognitions. He was assistant manager of the family business, Micelle Commission Yard for a number of years and also Micelle Meat Packing Plant. He was a dedicated member of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, where he attended mass daily during his younger years. Mr. Micelle had a passion for his cars, especially convertibles and Cadillacs. He was an avid sportsman and shared with many individuals his knowledge of firearm safety. His outgoing personality will be missed by all who loved him. Mr. Micelle is survived by his brothers, Frank J. Micelle, and Jerry A. Micelle and wife Shirley; sisters, Rose Anna Louviere and husband Nelson and Mary Jane Smith and husband Jack, all of Lake Charles; sister-in-law, Sherry Micelle; and a large number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Angelia Micelle; and brothers, Victor R. Micelle and Morris A. Micelle. His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM with a Scripture Service and Rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. The family of Mr. Micelle would like to express a special word of thanks to the nurses and administrative staff of St. Frances Nursing Home in Oberlin, LA and his special nurses Mary Ann Martin and her daughter Michelle.
