John R. May

SFC (Ret.) John R. May passed away quietly at 12:35 PM on June 19, 2014, at the Southwest LA War Veterans Home in Jennings, LA with his two loving and faithful daughters by his side. Born in Natchez, MS in 1932, SFC May was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Margarette Bullock May, his parents and two brothers. He is survived by two daughters: Debbie Schafer (Jerry) and Becky Miller (Roger), all of Lake Charles, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 3 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. SFC May will be returning to his home in Mississippi. Arrangements are being handled through Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia, MS with visitation on Sunday, June 22 and burial on Monday, June 23. Local arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. His family wishes to thank the kind and caring staff of the Southwest LA Veterans Home and Heart of Hospice.
