John Randall Mcdaniel

June 26, 1954 — September 14, 2012

John Randall McDaniel of Lake Charles died on Friday, September 14, at age 58. Thirty five years ago, John married his sweetheart, Dorothy and they had 2 children, Trent and Victoria. A 1972 Graduate of LaGrange High School, John attended McNeese State University. After becoming a Master Electrician, John has owned and operated Dollar Electric, Inc. since 1985 and was President of the NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association) and Director of the Joint Apprenticeship Training Program (JATC).


John was a calm natured gentleman whose family was his heart, and worked hard to instill in his children the spiritual values he held dear. He will always be remembered as a man of honor and integrity and respected as a community advocate. For many years, he was a competitive national semi-pro bowler, earning several perfect 300 rings. He was an avid golfer; he enjoyed his golf buddies and their many golf trips. He and Dorothy participated in many Mardi Gras activities being members of the Krewes of Contraband, La Famille, Barataria, and the Lake Charles Country Club.


He worked with the education community for public school systems, McNeese and the Diocese of Lake Charles, during their new construction, maintenance and repairs of their facilities. His community activities included his work for the Police Juries and City Councils, especially during the SWLA disasters, working with FEMA and their programs.


John sponsored various school academic and athletic activities and he was most proud of receiving the Parent Participation Award for attendance at his son's St. Louis Catholic High's soccer games four years in a row.


Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy Collins McDaniel; son, Trent Michael McDaniel and daughter Victoria Lynn McDaniel. Mother, Isabel Fontenot McDaniel; brothers, Jerry McDaniel (Nita), James (Boo) McDaniel (Mary), J. Lyles McDaniel (Louise), Lane McDaniel and sisters, Jennifer McDaniel Courville (Tim) and JoAnn McDaniel Niles (John). He was preceded in death by his father Davis McDaniel.


Pallbearers are Dr. Keith DeSonier, Mike Eason, Bryan Harris, Harold Heath, Wegee Lechtenberg, and Dr. John Moffett, Jr.


Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Jerry McDaniel, Boo McDaniel, Lyles McDaniel, Lane McDaniel and his nephews, Blake Smith and Jared Leibee.


Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday, September 16 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and will continue on Monday, September 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate and be joined by Monsignor James Gaddy and Father Wayne LeBleu. Interment will be at Consolata Cemetery.
