John Ray Gammage, Jr., 73, of Lake Charles entered passed away Wednesday, September 02, 2020 in Metairie, LA.
Mr. Gammage was a graduate of LaGrange High School and McNeese State University where he was Captain of the ROTC Precision Drill Team. He served in the United States Active Army and Reserves for a total of seventeen years. He went on to South Texas College of Law to attain his Doctorate. Mr. Gammage owned his own Oil & Land Gas Company for many years; he then continued to work in the industry. He loved sailing and animals. His passion was learning, particularly, language, culture and religion.
He leaves to honor his memory, two daughters, Jennifer Gammage Schaefer and husband Gus of Sour Lake, TX and Jessica Gammage Carrel and husband Michael of Lake Charles and three grandchildren, Gus William Schaefer, IV, Beverly J. Polanco and John C. Polanco.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ray Gammage, Sr. and Audry Griffith Hackett; his wife of ten years, Beverly Jo Manuel Gammage and son, John David Gammage.
Graveside services will be at a later date. Interment with his wife and son will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
