John Rion, Jr.

John A. Rion, Jr., age 80, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010, at a local care facility.

He was born December 19, 1929, to John A. and Ethel Nixon Rion in LeBlanc, Louisiana; married and moved to Lake Charles in 1947 to begin a career with Citgo Petroleum, where he worked for 44 years, retiring in 1992 as an operator. Mr. Rion enjoyed traveling in his RV, and he was known as being able to fix anything. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and his daughter, Regina Ezell. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elaine Marcantel Rion of Lake Charles; two sons, Kenneth Rion and wife, Barbara and John Randall Rion all of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, Nicole Daigle and husband, Chad of Lacassine, Brian Ezell of Lake Charles, Erin Courville and husband, Larry of Lacassine, Brandy Ardoin and husband, Craig of Lake Charles, Matt Ezell of Iowa, Chip Rion of Lake Charles, and Chris Rion of Lake Charles; and nine great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Bushnell and Rev. Ricky Treece will officiate. Burial will follow at LeBlanc Cemetery in LeBlanc, LA. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 18, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Tuesday, October 19, from 8 a.m. until time of service.
