John Roach, Jr.

John Roach, Jr. passed away on August 15, 2023.  John was a 1960 graduate of Vinton High School.  He attended MSU before joining the United States Navy from 1963-1967 where he was sent to Vietnam.  John worked in the oilfield for 20 years.  He worked as an electrical supervisor for KBR and NOWSCO retiring in 2013.  John was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Vinton.  John was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge #364 and VFW Post 9854 in Vinton.  

John is survived by two sons, Tommy Sandifer and Michol Sandifer; three daughters, Elaine (Sandifer) Terry, Heidi Jacobson, and Christina Hladik; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family members.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Freida Marie Finn Roach; his parents, John W. Roach, Sr. and Mary Sue Simms Roach; and his sister, Virginia Smith.

Services for John will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:30 AM at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Vinton.  Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of service.  Cremation will follow.
