John S. Newman

August 2, 1962 — July 16, 2024

John Stephen Newman (TJohn) of Iowa, La and a current resident of Lake Placid, Fl passed away Tuesday July 16, 2024. John was born August 2, 1962, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Albert and Wilda Newman. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church Lake Placid, Florida and a longtime member of St. Raphael Catholic Church Iowa, Louisiana. John attended St. Margarets Catholic School and graduated from LaGrange High School. John worked at Bridgestone/Firestone for over 20 years following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

As a young boy John became an Eagle Scout and proudly shared the many things he learned. John loved being an outdoorsman from fishing and hunting, crawfishing and shrimping to catching turtles. John’s love of life was endless in the things he loved to do from rodeoing, showing livestock, selling firewood and gardening to most recently working at the Okeechobee Livestock Market and going to water parks with his son. John was full force all the time, never idle and always had big plans. John loved to tell stories, visit and try and be a comedian. He never met a stranger and knew everyone and tried to meet the whole world. He loved to read and knew so much you never knew what you were going to learn from him. John was a proud brother of the Rice Parishes ACTS making his own retreat and then continuing to serve as a team member. He loved helping people and sharing his knowledge. More than anything he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Lee Newman; grandfather, Armand Johnson; grandmother, Bernice Johnson; nephew and Godchild, Brian Newman; and sister-in-law, Elaine S. Newman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Angie Newman; son, Hunner Newman; daughters, Jayde Newman Seaford and husband Brenton and Brooke Newman; grandchildren, Maci, Ada, and Stran Seaford; brothers, Robert Newman and wife Elaine, Pat Newman and Charles Newman and wife Pam; sister, Clare Blackwell and husband Barry; and mother, Wilda Newman, In-laws Bobby and Tessa Breen.
