John Terry Deshotels

John Terry Deshotels, 73, of Lake Charles, LA died on Monday, May 30, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Deshotels was born May 16, 1938 and raised in Mamou, LA. He served twenty years in the U.S. Navy, where he retired as a Petty Officer 1st Class and worked as a storekeeper. After his retirement from the Military, he worked over twenty-five years in real estate sales. Mr. Deshotels was raised a member of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Fleet Reserve. He enjoyed playing Canasta and collecting coins. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and will always be remembered for his joke telling.

Mr. Deshotels is survived by his brother, J.L. Deshotel and wife Geneva of Lake Charles; three sisters, Virginia Fontenot and husband Qullis of Lake Charles, Mary Sonnier of Elizabeth, LA, and Lester Campbell of Pine Prairie, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

His funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Emanuel Tanu will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
