Captain John Wright Marsh, 68, of Lake Charles passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital surrounded by his family and close friends.
Captain Marsh was born on November 27, 1948 in Savannah, GA and lived in Lake Charles since 1978. After returning home from his service in the U.S. Army during the Veitnam War, he worked various jobs until he found his profession as a tow boat and ship captain.
He was a loving father, steadfast, noble and strong, as well as an avid outdoorsman and loved to work on his cars.
He is survived by his brother: Ralph Palmer Marsh, III and his wife Mary; three children, John Wright Marsh, Jr.; Georgia Ann Marsh Elliott and husband Scott; and Ralph Palmer Marsh IV; and one step-son, Cory Boudreaux.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Ralph Palmer Marsh, Jr. and Mary Elaine Marsh; and a sister, Martha "Chick" Marsh Hartman.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 5:00 PM and will continue until the start of the service.
