Johnnie Alexander Babin, 89, of Lake Charles, LA died at 5:45 AM on Friday, August 16, 2013 in his residence.
Mr. Babin was born October 15, 1923 in Cravens, LA and lived all of his life in Lake Charles. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was stationed in England, France, Germany and Austria. He retired from Gulf States Utilities in 1985 after thirty-eight years of service as the Garage Shop Foreman. Mr. Babin was longtime member of Boulevard Baptist Church, where he served faithfully in many ministries throughout the church. He enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting. He loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.
Mr. Babin is survived by his wife of sixty years, Marie Cormier Babin; son, Ralph A. Buddy Babin and wife Jenifer of Lake Charles; daughters, Paula Manuel and husband Scott, Tina Babin and Rhonda Babin, all of Lake Charles; half-sister, Sue Marshall, of Slagle, LA; granddaughter, Morganne Manuel; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Anna Babin; his aunt who raised him, Rose Lyons; brothers, Adolph and Earl Babin; sister, Faye Weldon; half-brother, Henry Babin; and half-sister, Eva Self.
His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Theron Watson will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
