Johnnie Van Metre

Dolores "Johnnie" Van Metre, 84 of Vinton passed away on March 18, 2015. Johnnie was born on June 5, 1930 in Texas where she was raised. On November 6, 1948 she married C.T "Van" Van Metre, Jr. and moved to Vinton where she lived until her death. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vinton. Johnnie is survived by her four children, Vanese Delahoussaye and husband George of Sugar Land, TX, Van "Buddy" Van Metre and wife Sharon of Vinton, A.L. "T-Lew" Van Metre and wife Elizabeth of Lake Charles and C.T "Tray" Van Metre, III and wife Deb of Bloomfield, NE; special friends, Roy Lee and Dawn Walter; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Annie Roma McKenzie; her husband of 59 years, Van; a great granddaughter; sisters and brothers. Services for Johnnie will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Vinton at 10 am with Reverend Mike Canady officiating. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 5-8 pm at the church.
