Johnny Billups, 75, passed away on September 19, 2024. Born on August 4, 1949, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Johnny was raised in Lake Charles and graduated from LaGrange High School in 1968. He attended McNeese State University before transferring to the University of Houston. While in Houston, Johnny met the love of his life, Carolyn, and they were later married. Together, they had one son, Richard.

In 2003, Johnny and Carolyn moved back to Lake Charles, where Johnny spent 18 years working at Calcasieu Refinery alongside his wife. Johnny was an avid fisherman, participating in many fishing tournaments like Bassmaster’s and Redman tournaments. In his younger years, he could often be found at fishing competitions or spending time with his family at their camp on Toledo Bend, where many cherished memories were made.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Lake Charles; his son, Richard (Amber), of Erin, Tennessee; and his sister, Vicki England (Don), of Lake Charles. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Austin (Nashville, TN), Mackenzie, Madison, Makayla, and Julian Coy, all of Erin, Tennessee; his niece, Dawn Newell (Mike) Carlyss, LA, and nephews, Robert England (Tracie) of Alexandria, LA, and Daniel England of Lake Charles.His great niece and nephew Jolie and Nicholas England. Johnny also had a special relationship with his great-niece, Victoria England, who was like his baby, and his Aunt Sylvia Fontenot of Lake Charles.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hathaway Billups and Jacqueline Jones Billups.

He will be deeply loved and missed by all who knew him. A private family service celebrating Johnny’s life will be held at a later date.
