Johnny Marvin Fuller, 83, of Westlake, LA, died at 11:49 AM on Monday, September 14, 2020 in a Jennings care facility.
Mr. Fuller was born January 27, 1937 in Ada, Oklahoma. He was raised in Westlake, lived several years in Galveston, TX and moved back to Westlake following his retirement. He was a graduate of Westlake High School, here he was a football star, an all-state tackle. He also attended Louisiana State University and graduated from McNeese State University, where he had a football scholarship. Mr. Fuller served his country as a Major in the U.S. Army, serving three tours in the Vietnam War. He received numerous metals from the Army, including a Bronze Star. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for the Port of Galveston as the container terminal manager and later worked as a greeter and cashier for Wal-Mart, where customers fondly remember him as “Mr. Johnny.” Mr. Fuller, along with his wife, enjoyed a successful dog breeding and showing business for several years. He was an avid duck hunter in his younger days and had a passion for fishing throughout his entire life.
Mr. Fuller is survived by his daughter, Jon Suzanne Fuller Riggs of Westlake; sons, Jeff Fuller and wife Katherine and David Eric Fuller and wife Jennifer, all of Houston; grandchildren, Ryan Riggs, Marinee’ Riggs, Allison Fuller, William Fuller, Luke Fuller, and Bryn Fuller; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Audrey Riggs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Fuller; parents, John and Mauvee Fuller; and half-brother, Edward, who died in the Korean Conflict.
His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
