Johnny Wayne Young, 65, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. Young was born in Jackson, MS and has lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Marion High School. Mr. Young retired with Eva Oil as Vice President of Operations with nearly twenty years managing In & Out Mini Marts. Following his retirement he worked in sales with Clayton Mobile Homes, retiring Office Manager. During his younger years, Mr. Young enjoyed playing drums in a band of friends. His later years, he enjoyed exploring the web. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of nineteen years, Bonnie Harris Young of Lake Charles; step- father, Huey Smith of Lake Charles; four step-children, Ken Conner and wife Staci, Ricky Conner, Dana Farque Wrigley and husband Skip and Jody Farque, all of Lake Charles; nine step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; three half sisters, Debra Grizman of Palo Alto, CA, Beverly Matlock and Delores Harris, both of Lafayette; nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law, Mary Bentley of Lake Charles. He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Smith. Funeral services will be at 12:30 PM Monday, August 25, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Brian King will officiate. Interment will follow in Westlake Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation Monday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home. Mr. Young was blessed to have been gifted a kidney twice, his family request memorial donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana (donations@kidneyla.org) and ask that friends and family consider signing as a donor.
