Jose Antonio Gabilondo

Jose Antonio Gabilondo, 85, of Lake Charles died at 4:30 PM on Friday, March 28, 2014 at a local hospital. Mr. Gabilondo was born on March 3, 1929 in Havana, Cuba. He graduated from La Universidad de Havana and received a degree in Accounting. He met his wife in Varadero, Cuba and started a family and in 1972, Mr. Gabilondo moved his family to Madrid, Spain. In 1976, Mr. Gabilondo moved his family to Lake Charles and began working at Grex Inc. as an accountant. He and his wife Eva worked side by side at Grex Inc. for 25 years. He loved to read and listen to classical music. His favorite place was the beach which reminded him so much of his beloved homeland of Cuba. He adored his family, especially his four grandchildren and will be sorely missed. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Eva Gabilondo; his children and their spouses, Jose and Patty Gabilondo of Atsugi, Japan; Eva and Scott Riviere of Lake Charles; and four grandchildren, Dean, Lucia, Juliet and Stuart Riviere. He was preceded in death by his mother Juana Busca Gabilondo and father Fermin Gabilondo and three brothers Juan Ignacio Gabilondo, Che Gabilondo and Pachin Gabilondo. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5th at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Church beginning with a rosary at 9:30 AM to be followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM. Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
