Joseph Roy Bourque, Jr., of Lake Charles, passed away suddenly at his home with his family at his side on Thursday January 30, 2025, following a lengthy illness.
Joseph was a native and lifelong resident of the Lake Charles Area, having graduated from Marion High School and SOWELA Technical Institute. He honorably and faithfully served our country in the United States Air Force and carried his status as a Veteran with great pride. Retiring after many years of loyal service as an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), he enjoyed spending time hunting and enjoying his family.
Preceding Joseph in death are his parents, Joseph Roy (Sr.) and Dovie Corley Bourque, his daughter, Gail Bourque and his brother, Brant L. Bourque. Those left to his memory are his beloved wife of 56 years, Myra Wildermuth Bourque; son, Joseph Wayne Bourque (Milissa); grandchildren, Miranda Gospodarek Sorkow and her son, Hunter Sorkow, Cassandra Gospodarek Mannheimer (Larry), Samantha Sadler, Ashley Henning (Collin), Logan Watkins (Katie), Breanna Coberly (Branson) along with many Great Grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters, Veronica Moore and Judith Quick (Lamar) and three brothers, Cornell Bourque (Wanda), Jimmy Bourque (Laurie), and Michael Bourque (Debbie) along with many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday February 3, 2025, at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. A Rosary is to be recited at 6:00 PM. The gathering will resume on Tuesday February 4 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the funeral home with a graveside service to be observed at Prien Memorial Park at 10:00 AM with Monsignor Jace Eskind officiating, concluding with Air Force Honors will be rendered.
