Joseph Bradley Miles

August 16, 1961 — April 4, 2023

Joseph Bradley Miles, 61, passed away on April 4, 2023 in a Lake Charles Hospital. He was born on August 16, 1961 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Andrew and Myrtie Sepulvado Miles.

Bradley was larger than life and prided himself on being the life of the party.  He loved being an outdoorsman, especially sharing pictures of his backyard view of Contraband Bayou.  Always a lover of old cars with big engines, he filled many a weekend fixing and racing them.  That he was a hard worker would be an understatement.  He retired after a career in the maintenance department at Citgo Oil Refinery, but also owned and operated All Phase Fence for over 20 years before giving it to his nephew and best friend, Coy Waggoner. Brad would continue to assist the company for the remainder of his life. He and his beloved bride would maintain their rental properties to give him something to keep himself busy in his retirement years. He just could never stop working.

He doted on HIS daughter Nicole Henning. He loved her unconditionally.  However, as much as it meant for her to call him “dad,” his favorite title was “POPS” to Nicole’s only son, Miles. She loved her dad so much she gave her son her dad’s last name as his first.  His nephew, Coy may have been Brad’s first road dawg, but Miles would be his last.  Brad was  looking to raise a man better than he ever was. The love of his life was his beloved Tammy J, his forever dance partner. Often he would spontaneously grab Aunt Tammy to have a dance and loved their date nights dancing on the back porch.  She was the one that he loved to travel with especially on the times that they would get to leave the” backseat driver” as he affectionately referred to Miles at home.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his beloved wife of 35 years, Tammy Henning Miles; his daughter, Nicole Henning; and his only grandson, his pride and joy, Miles Byrom; his brothers, David Miles (Petey) and Andy Miles (Deborah); his sisters, Audrey, Peggy, and Phyllis Miles; a host of nieces and nephews that he mentored and counted as best friends; along with so many friends that he counted as family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Boyd and Mary Helen Miles.

His funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, April 7, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel.  Msgr. Jace Eskind will preside.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service at 11:30 AM.  Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
