Joseph E. Lafleur

September 26, 1933 — July 27, 2013

Joseph E. LaFleur, 79, of Lake Charles was met at the heavenly gates by Gloria Effie LaFleur, his wife of 57 years, where he will continue his heavenly life with his angel.


Mr. LaFleur was a native of Basile, Louisiana and moved to Lake Charles in 1954. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1960. He worked for Livingston Title Company and retired from the Calcasieu Parish Sherriff's Office. He was a member of the Louisiana Peace Officers Association, life- long member of the American Legion Post #1 where he was post commander for two years., 7th district commander, State of Louisiana Vice commander, 40/8 Vaiture 392, VFW Post 2130, life member of DAV Louis Lust Chapter 17, Member of the Mayors Armed Forces Committee, a member and usher at St. Henry Catholic Church and a member of the Curculio 343.


He is survived by his daughters, Gloria Lynne and husband Nolan Stelly from Carencro, LA, Janet Marie and husband Jim Mayo from Sugar Land, TX, one son Joey Blaine LaFleur from Carlyss, LA, three sisters: Nell Davidge, Belle Agee, Patty Picard , one brother, Huey LaFleur, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren.


Joseph is preceded in death by his wife Gloria Effie Picard LaFleur, his parents, Ella and Joseph LaFleur, three infant brothers, Elbridge LaFleur, Harry LaFleur, Edward LaFleur, three sisters, Bertha LaFleur, Lillie Ardoin, and Verley Guillory.


His funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Henry Catholic Church. Monsignor Danny Torres will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday at 4:00 PM until 9:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home with an American Legion service to be held at 5:30 followed by a Cursillo rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at 8:00 AM in the funeral home until 9:30 AM.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South West Louisiana War Veterans Home, 16100 Evangeline Rd, Jennings, LA 70566-3922 or to the American Legion Post #1, 1530 9th St, Lake Charles, LA 70601.
