Joseph Fortunato Angelo, 82, of Lake Charles died at 2:06 AM on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in a local hospital.
Mr. Angelo was born in Gary, IN and had lived in Lake Charles since 1980. He was a graduate of Edison High School in Gary, IN and also of Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Mr. Angelo served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and is a member of the Marine Corps League. He was also a member of the Lion's Club. Mr. Angelo was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where he belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
He was a Chief Financial Officer for 25 years for Sisters of Charity Christus Hospital System, having worked for several hospitals.
Mr. Angelo was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren who were his life.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Judy Angelo of Lake Charles; five children, Lori Comer of Pensacola, FL, Patrick Angelo and wife Beverly of Gulf Port, MS, Michael Angelo and wife Jennifer of Benton, LA, Lisa Pitre and husband Brandon of Houston, and Tony Angelo of Tomball, TX; two sisters, Betty Marasco of Crown Point, IN and Julie Dionne of Crete, IL; and three grandchildren, Heather Lowry, and Andrew and Emily Angelo.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Am on Friday, July 16, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Following the services, Mr. Angelo will be cremated and entombed in Consolata Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
