Joseph Frenchy Fruge, 77, of Sulphur, passed away on December 20, 2011 in his residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until time of service. Frenchy was a native of Bunkie and a longtime resident of Sulphur. He joined the Merchant Marines in 1959, where he worked for 42 years before retiring. He attended the South Sulphur Church of Christ and was a member of Seafarers International Union of North America where he served as Quarter Master and Able Bodied Seaman traveling all over the world. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, camping, story-telling and traveling. Frenchy is survived by his wife, Geraldine Fruge of Sulphur, three sons, Earl James Fruge and wife, Susan of Westlake, Troy Avery Fruge and wife, Scarlet and Shawn Fruge and wife, Mary all of Sulphur, daughter, Mary Duplechain and husband, Colton of Lake Charles, two brothers, Fred Fruge and wife, Laura of Eunice and LD Fruge and wife, Lillie Mae of Lake Charles, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two sons.
