Joseph "Jay" Emile Hebert, 76, of Lake Charles, passed away suddenly on Monday June 29, 2015 at his residence. Jay was born in Bell City to Lee Roy Hebert and Mary Ann Mehling Hopkins. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad and was a charter member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He was a longtime board member of SPELC Federal Credit Union and was a model train enthusiast. Jay also enjoyed the art of photography, woodworking and appreciated many styles of music. Those left to honor and cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 55 years, Norma Miley Hebert; son, Greg P. Hebert, Spring, TX and a granddaughter, the light of his life, Rachel Marie Hebert, Spring TX as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Loretta Spellmeyer and stepfather, Odes Hopkins. Visitation will begin today, July 2, 2015 at 5:00 PM. A scripture service officiated by Father Keith Pellerin will be at 6:30 PM today, with a Cursillo Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church with Father Jeff Starkovich serving as celebrant and Deacon Gorge Carr serving as Reader. Entombment will follow at Consolata Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Drs. Richard Gilmore , Ron Lewis, Paul Hooper Nichols, William Moss, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and home health for the compassionate and loving care they provided them during Jay's illness.
