Joseph "Joe" Maurice Jobe, Jr., 91, of Lake Charles, LA died at 10:45 AM on Monday, April 4, 2011 in a local hospital.
Mr. Jobe was born January 31, 1920 and lived in Lake Charles for over sixty-five years. A graduate of Merryville High School, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Jobe worked as an operator at Cities Service for over thirty years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He was a member of the Calcasieu Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Jobe was also a Shriner and a member of The Habibi Shrine Temple, The American Legion Post #1, and SAR (Sons of the American Revolution). He was an avid McNeese Football fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Jobe will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed dearly.
Mr. Jobe is survived by his wife of twenty years, Maude Evelyn Steffens Jobe of Lake Charles; daughters, Lana Jobe Morgan of Fort Worth, TX and Melissa Jobe Hallas and husband Nicholas of Los Angeles, CA; stepchildren, Beverly Waggoner and Mark Steffens and wife Sandy, all of Lake Charles; sister, Alyce Colvin of Jonesboro, LA; granddog, Buddy; four step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Wildblood Jobe.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Chris Fuselier will officiate. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Merryville Cemetery in Merryville, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
