Joseph "Kent" Ledet was the second of four children born to Morris J. and Anne G. Ledet. He was born in Abbeville, LA on August 3, 1951.
His passion for baseball began when he played rec ball in the Lake Charles Little League where he and his team made it to the world series. Throughout school and his early adult hood he played rec-ball and softball. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School, class of 1970.
He was fun loving, and a jokester who loved to make people laugh with innocent antics. He loved the outdoors, mowing his yard and keeping it immaculate. His daughters have many fond memories with him, whether tent or cabin camping, family time was important to him. He was fluent in Cajun french, having learned it from his mother and family. He also enjoyed singing karaoke, playing harmonica, and was teaching himself how to play the accordian.
His BBQ ribs never failed to bring everyone to the table, his secret seasoning was a family favorite. He often competed in cook-offs, winning several times. In his down time, often he would be found watching college baseball, LSU, and his beloved Astro's.
He was welcomed into Heaven on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 by his parents, Morris J. and Anne G. Ledet.
He is survived by three daughters, Tammy "Andy" Fontenot, Monica "Rocky" Harrington, and Lydia "Stephen" Buller; grandchildren, Tyler, Colin, Max, Zoe, Mika, Joshua, Ava, Gemma, Felicity, Thomas, Celia, Roman, Guy, Delilah, Caroline, Olivia, Isaiah, and Valerie; two sisters, Karen "John" Malik and Tina "Keith" Green; a brother, Chris "Cindy" Ledet; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
