Joseph Monceaux, 87, of Lake Charles died at 9:47 PM Saturday, February 9, 2013 in a local care facility.
Mr. Monceaux was a native of Kaplan and has lived in Lake Charles since 1957. He attended Kaplan High School. Joseph enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Guard Patrolman during World War II, where he received a WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in the garden and on his flower beds.
He is survived by two daughters Charlotte Meek of Tampa, FL, Vivian Farnell and husband Paul of Lake Charles, LA, one son Murphy Monceaux and wife Diana of Knoxville, TN, two brothers, Daniel and Clifford Monceaux both of Lake Charles, LA, one sister Elodie Demary of Lafayette, LA, seven grandchildren, Dale and Tony Meek, Ryan Farnell, Deidre Nunnally and husband Jeremy and Alisha Richard and husband Jamie, and Daryl and Dalton Monceaux.
Mr. Monceaux was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Monceaux, his parents, six sisters, Ann Gaspard, Lelia Clark, Lucille Guidry, Agnes Faulk, Jeanne Boudreaux, Marie Hebert, and one grandson, Jason Monceaux.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service to be held at 6:00 PM followed by a rosary. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at 8:00 AM until the time of services.
