Joseph Murry Davis

Joseph Murry Davis, 96, of Lake Charles, passed away, Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Harbor Hospice Care. A native of Many, LA., Murry was born on October 15, 1927, to Willie and Lucy Davis. After graduating from high school, Murry attended Northwestern State University. Murry later served in the U.S. Navy and after his honorable discharge, he worked many years in the petrochemical industry where he retired as Safety Director with PPG in Lake Charles.

Murry enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and hunting. Later in life he enjoyed playing bridge with friends and spending time with his “grandbabies” Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marita “Rita” Davis; daughter, Barbara Davis; step-daughter, Angela Daigle; step-granddaughter, Sasha Daigle; three step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Murry was preceded in death by his first wife, “Moe” Davis, his parents, three brothers, and four sisters.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:30AM to 12:30PM, Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday at 1:00PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 221 Aqua Dr. Lake Charles, LA. 70605 with burial to follow at Consolata Cemetery.
