Joseph Newton Marceaux

Joseph Newton Marceaux, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Guardian Rehab Center after battling a long illness. Newton, as his friends called him, was born on December 22, 1933 in Kaplan, LA to Numa and Allie Landry Marceaux.

Newton was raised in Kaplan, LA and graduated college from SLI in Lafayette, LA. Newton worked in different managerial positions in the oilfield service industry for most of his career. His employment led him to live in many locations such as Colorado, Arkansas, Lafayette, Lake Charles, New Orleans, and Houston to name just a few. He mentored many individuals who were just starting out in the oilfield industry. He lived in Lake Charles for the past 30 years. Newton is best known for his love of cooking and entertaining and was often asked to cater large events for many friends, families and organizations. He was an avid LSU and Saints football fan. He also enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and gardening and was a devout Catholic. Newton was especially cherished by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Newton is survived by his children Fran Pousson and husband Jimmy, Chris Marceaux and wife Jaime, Bruce Marceaux and wife Beth, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Newton is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years Marguerite Marceaux, his parents, and 3 sisters.

The family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 1PM-3PM. A memorial funeral service will be held at 3PM officiated by Rev. Joby Mathew.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the Guardian Rehab Center staff who loved and cared for Newton during his time there. Their compassion and exceptional care made a difficult time tolerable. Harbor Hospice is appreciated for their special care, education, and support to the family.
