Joseph Pountifex Chamberlain, 85, of Lake Charles died at 10:00 PM on Monday, May 9, 2011 in his residence.
Mr. Chamberlain was born on July 10, 1925 in Stuttgart, AR and lived in Lake Charles since 1977. He was a graduate of John Brown Academy in San Diego, CA before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He earned his engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin leading him to design and build multiple refineries world wide including here locally.
He was a member of the Shriners of North America and was also a 33rd Degree Mason. In his earlier years he was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts.
Those left to cherish his memory are six children, Joseph Chamberlain, Jr. of Anaheim, CA, Dana Trujillo of Stanton, CA, Nancy Jones of Santa Ana, CA, Julie Sheets of Evansville, IN, Ryan Chamberlain of New Orleans, and Marcus Chamberlain of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, May 16, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Chris Fuselier will officiate. Mr. Chamberlain was cremated.
