It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Tuble Rabalais “Joe”, 95, who peacefully departed from this world on August 9, 2024, in his home in Lake Charles, LA, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Rabalais was born on October 26, 1929, in Cottonport, LA. His journey through life was one filled with remarkable accomplishments and cherished memories. He proudly served as an Electronic Technician in the US Navy during the Korean War both on active duty 1950 to 1952 and in the Reserve from 1952 to 1954. His dedication to his country was recognized when he was honored as a Hometown Hero by KPLC in 2020 for his services.

Throughout his working years, Mr. Rabalais excelled as a Sales Engineer in Industrial Instrumentation, a role he held from 1964 to 2011. Even in retirement, his passion for craftsmanship was represented through his works in rod repair at Lake Charles Tackle. His extensive skill set earned him a reputation as a jack of all trades, as he was well known for fixing just about anything. Friends and family turned to him for his knowledge and experience, a testament to his generous spirit and willingness to help others.

Music was another of Mr. Rabalais’s talents. He began playing the drums in 1944 during high school and went on to form his own band, "The Joe Rab Combo." He sang for special occasions and performed alongside renowned artists like Louis Majors and Danny Thomas. His musical talents brought joy to many who listened and sang along or danced the night away.

His love for life and living it led to his hobbies and interests which included fishing, tranquil moments on the lake, and good time escapes on cruises. He also actively participated in activities with his Mardi Gras Krewe De La Noblesse, showcasing his vibrant spirit and love of a good time.

Among his proudest accomplishments, he was a dedicated member of the Mayors Armed Forces Commission, Woodman of the World, and American Legion Post 2130 organizations. His commitment to community service and advocacy for veterans' rights leaves a lasting impact.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 64 years to Marie Coussan Rabalais and children, David Rabalais (Terri), Lisa Chaumont (Kenneth), Phyllis Julius (Chic), and Renee Runyan (Tom). His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Hunter, Dillon, Derek, Chris, Brandon, Jeremy, and Kaylen, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
