Joseph Roy "Frenchie" Bourque, Sr.
December 5, 1926 — February 28, 2016
Joseph Roy Bourque, Sr., 89, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 in an Arkansas hospital.
Mr. Bourque was born and raised in Big Lake, LA and has lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He worked eleven years as a Delivery driver for Borden's Dairy. He retired a Foreman with thirty years of service with Lake City Glass. Mr. Bourque was an avid outdoorsman, having loved fishing, cooking outdoors and especially crawfish boils . He also enjoyed mechanics and tinkering with something most of the time. Mr. Bourque will be most remembered for his influence on his children and grandchildren and his "sweet tooth". He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
He leaves to honor his memory, seven children, Joseph "Roy" Bourque (Myra) and Cornell Bourque (Wanda) of Lake Charles, Veronica Moore (Al) of Mountain Home, AR, Judith Quick (Lamar) of Conway, AR, Brant Bourque and Jimmy Bourque (Laurie) of Lake Charles and Michael Bourque (Debi) of Moss Bluff; eighteen grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and one sister, Della Mathieus (Mince) of Moss Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Dovie Corley Bourque; two granddaughters, Gail Lynn Bourque and Nicki Genius Bergeron; parents, Noah and Felonise Bourque; two brothers and one sister.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 03, 2016 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Cursillo rosary beginning at 6:30 PM. Visitation Thursday will be from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Desormeaux, Paul Tate, Joshua Shontz, Cornell Bourque, Jr., Collin Bourque and Jimmy Genius. Honorary pallbearers, Jason Barnett, Brent White and Logan Watkins.
