Joseph "Silton' Devillier

April 3, 1934 — January 15, 2014

Joseph "Silton" DeVillier, 79, of Lake Charles, LA died at 4:20 PM on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. DeVillier was born April 3, 1934 in Ville Platte, LA. He worked in the oil field and then worked in the service station business for twenty-seven years, always keeping his focus on service. After his service stations, he returned to school to receive his electrician certification and worked for Watson Electric and CertainTeed. He volunteered as a Boy Scout leader when his sons where younger. He was proud to be a leader and mentor to the boys. Mr. DeVillier was a past member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and currently a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. He was a 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He loved the New Orleans Saints, and was an avid hunter, fisher and golfer. He loved spending time with his friends, but most importantly, his family. Mr. DeVillier is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Nettie M. DeVillier; sons, Steve DeVillier and wife Teresa of Lake Charles and Tony DeVillier and wife Darlene of Covington, LA; sisters, Kat Soileau and husband Jim, and Dot Chapman and husband Charles, all of Ville Platte, LA; brothers, George DeVillier and wife Novella, Danny DeVillier, all of Lake Charles, and Dowell DeVillier and wife Norma of Carencro, LA; grandchildren, Juliane (Joe) Cauthron of Dickinson, TX, Jeremy (Mayah) DeVillier of Moss Bluff, Vanessa (Felix) Favaloro of Marerro, LA, Allison (Calvin) Forcey of Perkins, OK, April (Jason) Collins of Covington, LA, and Connie (Will) Smith of Alexandria, LA; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Emma DeVillier; sister, Mavis LaFleur; daughter, Constance DeVillier; and great-grandson, Keegan DeVillier. His funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Father Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
