Joseph "Uncle Joey" Dale Martin

"Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God." Matthew 5:8 Joseph Dale Martin, 58, of Sulphur, LA, died on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in his residence. Mr. Martin was born May 7, 1955 in Lake Charles, LA and was a 1973 graduate of Lake Charles High School. He lived most of his life in Lake Charles, but did spend a few years in Houston, TX and in California. He worked retail most of his life, spending several years at Albertson's where he worked as the Manager of the liquor department. He was a member of Christ Community Church and was an avid reader. He will be forever remembered as a gentle, loving man with a great love and compassion for children. Mr. Martin is survived by his brothers, Ray Paul Martin and wife Veronica of Sulphur, LA and Tim Martin and wife Robin of Bossier City, LA; sister-in-law, Donna Martin of Lake Charles; special friends, Jeremy and Amanda Ball of Moss Bluff; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris Martin and Beatrice Thibodeaux Martin; brothers, Darril Martin, Barry Martin, and John Martin; sister-in-law, Dru Martin; and nephew, Spencer Martin. His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Christ Community Church, 2500 W. Prien Lake Road, Lake Charles, LA 70605. Pastor Dr. Rick McClain will officiate. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service at the church.
