Joseph Webster Pilkerton, Jr.

February 13, 1933 — March 20, 2012

Joseph Webster Pilkerton Jr., 79, of Lake Charles entered eternal rest at 6:10 AM Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in a local hospital.


Mr. Pilkerton was born in Washington, D.C. to the parents of Joseph and Olive Pilkerton on February 13, 1933. He was a 1951 graduate of Anacostia High School. After High School he joined the United States Air Force to serve his country. After returning from the service in 1953, Joe worked for the Lake Charles American Press for several years as a Route Manager. He then later went to work at CITGO Petroleum as an Operator retiring after 25 years. Mr. Pilkerton liked playing on his computer in his spare time and spending time with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.


He is survived by two daughters Kathy Baca and husband Jose of Lake Charles, LA, and Debra McDade and husband Chuck of Sulphur, LA, three sons: Mike Pilkerton and wife Vicky of Dallas, TX, David Pilkerton and wife Marie of Grand lake, LA, John Pilkerton and wife JoReaux of Lake Charles, LA, two sisters Gertrude Wells of Vernon hills, Il, and Jeannette Kersch and husband Kurt of Waldorf, MD, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.


Mr. Pilkerton is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Charlotte Pilkerton, one sister Joyce Pilkerton, parents Olive and Joseph Pilkerton Sr. one brother-in-law Chet Wells.


His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 a 2:00 PM from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Conner will officiate. Burial will be held in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM until until 9:00 PM with a rosary to be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday. Visitation will continue at 8:00 AM on Thursday until the time of services.
