Joshua Shane Reeves

Joshua Shane Reeves, 25, of DeRidder, LA, died on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Cotulla, TX.

Josh was born September 15, 1986 in Lake Charles, LA and lived in Reeves, LA, Tulsa, OK, and the last fifteen years in DeRidder, LA. He was a graduate of Christway Academy. He served his country as a specialist in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Iraq and Korea. He was currently on inactive status in the U.S. Army Reserves. Josh grew up in Living Faith Fellowship in Ragley and was a member of Christway Church, where he played the guitar for praise and worship. He enjoyed working out, shooting guns, riding his motorcycle, and playing his guitar. Josh will always be remembered for his generous heart, his honesty, and his "way with words." Material things were never important to him; his joy came in giving his things to others in need. He loved spending time with his family and had a passion for leading people to Christ.

Josh is survived by his newlywed wife, Kayla Ewing Reeves; daughters, Clarissa Ewing Reeves and Cassidy Reeves; parents, Larry and Katy Reeves; sister, Kacy Dickens and husband Larry; brothers, J. T. Reeves and wife Nicole, all of DeRidder, LA and John Paul Reeves and wife Kelsey of Meridian, MS; grandmother, Linda Todd of Westlake, LA; nieces and nephews, Bailey, Laramie, Kristen, Ethan, Ana, and Hayden; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack Todd and Oscar and Willow Reeves.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Christway Church in DeRidder, LA. Reverends Zack Royer, Vic Warrick and Kennis Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
